12/24/2011 Backyard Birds on Christmas Eve
I stepped out into the backyard this morning, Christmas Eve, and thought it would be a
wonderful day to take some pictures. The backyard was alive with an abundance of birds attracted to to the various feeders we had set up. Here are some of the results. I believe the first photo is of a Carolina Wren, the second a Chipping Sparrow, and the third a female Cardinal. I also saw Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Bell’s
Vireo, and numerous other birds. It was a good day. Here is a link to these and some other backyard photos. link
(btw. I changed the ‘Galleries” layout in order to make it a little easier to use. Let me know if there are any problems with the new access.) Merry Christmas!

November 2011 Fort Worth Nature Center
I haven’t had much time to take pictures or post lately, but here are a few that I managed to take at the Fort Worth Nature Center a few weeks ago. Both the Heron and the Egret were a little far, but the images were still interesting. The deer was taken as I hung out the side of the car. The link takes you to a couple more images. link

A Couple of Fall Photos from the Fort Worth Nature Center
I haven’t posted lately because I haven’t taken many pictures lately. With it looking like we are finally going to break the 100+ degree heat wave, thoughts drift to cooler Fall temperatures. Here are a couple of photos from the Fort Worth Nature Center taken during the Fall of ’09. link
06/18/2011 Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge
We had a chance to get a break from things and make a trip to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge this past weekend. I was able to experiment taking pictures of prairie dogs using the late afternoon sun and an on-camera strobe. Here are some of the pictures taken. link
06/07/2011 Prothonotary Warbler and Eastern Phoebe at Fort Worth Nature Center
Here are a few of photos taken at the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge a couple of weeks ago. We had been sitting on the Boardwalk for an hour or so when the Warbler landed and posed in a nearby bush. The Phoebe has been visible frequently over the past few weeks as it supported a nest made in the boardwalk itself. link
