I had an opportunity to spend a few days along the Texas coast near the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge area a few weeks ago. The area was still suffering from the heat and drought of the summer. Lakes were almost dry and the location and quantity of wildlife was definitely affected. Nonetheless, it is always enjoyable to get out into the fresh air and take some photos. Here are some taken during the visit. link

Aransas National Wildlife Refuge
I had another opportunity to visit the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge a few weeks ago. We were able to take lots of photos including ones of the endangered Whooping Crane (as seen in the photo above). Look in the Galleries / Nature / National Wildlife Refuges menu item. Birding out of Rockport aboard the Skimmer
I had an opportunity to go on a birding tour aboard the Skimmer out of Rockport, TX last week. It consisted of a 3.5 hour ride over to the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge. There we saw, among other things, Whooping Cranes, Roseate Spoonbills, and Great Blue Herons. The lighting was a bit challenging as a storm was brewing, but I did manage to come away with a few interesting images. These can be found at
